Brotherhood Spotlight

Born and raised in Elizabethtown, North Carolina, Bro. Jair McElveen is a second-year honors February One Scholar, pursuing dual bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Public Relations. On campus, Bro. McElveen works as an Aggie Ambassador in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and has also chartered and currently presides over the College Mentors for Kids chapter at NC A&T, which is the first HBCU chapter in the organization’s history. Leveraging his influence to create meaningful change by advancing collaboration, visibility, and legislative priorities, Bro. McElveen serves as the Assistant Area IV Director. With a track record of excellence and service, McElveen remains committed to making the unseen visible and the unheard audible, using his platform to uplift others and advance equity and justice every day.

Brother Rev. Ashley B. Hoover is the Senior Pastor of Jerusalem-Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church (Rockville, MD) and is a candidate for the degree of Doctor of Ministry.  Hoover is a 33 year employee of the Federal Government serving as an engineer for the US Navy.
As an Aggie, Hoover is a founder of the Carla Macon Granville Engineering Scholarship, Velma R. Speight National Young Alumni Award recipient and a member of the Alumni Council for Alumni Affairs.Fraternally, Hoover is Life Member #7617 and active with the ÕUL Chapter (Largo, MD).  He has served the fraternity in many capacities to include Treasurer (BE and Georgia District) and President (IGL; Brunswick, GA).

BROTHER ASHLEY HOOVER, SPRING 1989

Brother Jarrett Boyd is a native of Greensboro, NC and currently serves as the Beta Epsilon Chapter President. Boyd is a senior Industrial & Systems Engineering student and a recipient of the Dowdy Scholarship, the university’s premier undergraduate merit scholarship. As Chapter President, Boyd led Beta Epsilon in raising ~$6,900 for organizations fighting racial inequities while winning ANCA Chapter of the Year and Chapter with the Highest GPA. Professionally, Boyd has excelled in internships at Dow Chemical, J.P. Morgan Securities, ExxonMobil, Deloitte Consulting, and Apple. He is an alum of Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) and Harvard Business School’s Peek Weekend.

Brother Tejuan Manners serves as the Strategic Transformation Operations Executive Director at Lenovo. Manners has over 20 years of leadership in End-to-End Supply Chain Operations.  In the community, Manners is heavily involved in March for Babies, the Raleigh Food Bank and Middle School Technology camps.  Fraternally, Manners is Life Member #13227, past President of the ΦΛ Chapter (Raleigh, NC) and the first ΒΕ brother to serve as North Carolina District Director.

BROTHER TEJAUN MANNERS, SPRING 1999

Brother Dr. Howard Conyers is a rocket scientist, educator, pitmaster, content creator, and historian.  Dr. Conyers was raised on his family farm in Paxville, SC and resides in New Orleans, LA where he is a NASA Engineer.  At NASA, Dr. Conyers was awarded an Early Career Achievement Award and Innovation Award.  Dr. Conyers founded the Gumbo Jubilee Awards, and as host and co-producer of the PBS Digital Series ‘Nourish’ Dr. Conyers was recognized by Southern Living, Telly and Webby.  Currently, he is a mentor for Kingsford’s ‘Preserve the Pit’ Fellowship Program.   Fraternally, Dr. Conyers is Life Member #11162 and a member of the ΣΛ chapter (New Orleans, LA).

Brother Victor Solomon is a senior Business Administration major hailing from Peoria, IL.  Solomon is a member of the world-renowned NC A&T State University Gospel Choir. On campus, Solomon serves as the 14th Mister A&T and was recently named the 2021-2022 Mister HBCU.  Solomon recently performed on The Voice Season 20.  During his blind audition, Solomon turned the chairs of three judges to include John Legend singing his Academy award winning song ‘Glory’.

Brother Charles M. Coffin Jr. from Philadelphia, PA graduated from A&T at the age of 20 with a BS in Business Administration and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force. While at A&T, Coffin was a member of the baseball and football teams as well as a distinguished AFROTC cadet. In January 2019, Coffin retired from Department of Defense as a Senior Procurement and Systems Analyst.  As an Aggie, Coffin has been a member/donor to the National Alumni Association, Aggie Club, Aggie Athletic Foundation, Washington DC and Gate City Alumni chapters and more.  Fraternally, Coffin is Life Member #2292 which he received while at A&T, was recognized as the Outstanding Alumni Brother of the Year in 1988 and is currently the ΒΕ chapter fraternity advisor.
